Dear Travis Parent/Guardian, 4/5/2020
This week we will begin our distance learning at Travis Elementary. Our team has worked hard to provide you with instruction that hopefully you find easy to access, relevant and engaging to your child. Our delivery method of choice is our online version. This gives your child access to a live teacher with detailed instruction and immediate feedback to keep them on pace with the rest of the group. If you are unable to use this method or just prefer a lower tech approach, we have a paper packet available for you to print. This paper packet will have the material for the rest of the school year. This version of instruction is not our preferred method because it doesn’t give you access to the instructional videos and will severely delay the feedback from your child’s teachers. You can access the paper packet on the MWISD website by clicking on the CORONAVIRUS link on the homepage. Again, we would prefer if your child would join us online but with whichever method you choose, we will be here to support both you, as the home learning proctor, and your child, as the learner.
I will continue to communicate all information by email, Skyward callout and Facebook. It will be the same information but utilizing all three platforms will allow me to reach more stakeholders. Teachers will communicate with your child through their MWISD email and through Google Classroom. Teachers will also invite you to Google Classroom as Guardians so that you are able to see summaries of assignments, grades and missing work. This invitation will be sent to the email that you have registered in Skyward. I will also send out a weekly overview for the online learning. This will give you a general idea of the topics covered for the week.
I understand that this is an extremely challenging and overwhelming time for you. We are here to help. Our entire staff of teachers, counselors and administrators are working daily and can be available for your support. If you need anything, reach out to us by email. These school emails can be accessed through the Travis website at www.tes.mwisd.net. We want this time to be a positive experience for you and do not want you to feel overwhelmed. Please take care of your heath and the health of your entire family. The sooner our land has healed, the sooner we can be back together. Until that time we will excel with our distance learning. Beginning today, your child can log in to Google Classroom to begin their online learning.
