The mission of Mineral Wells ISD libraries is to create a student-centered library media center which provides a safe and welcoming environment and collaborates with faculty and staff.

Cultivating students who are:

  •         Passionate lifelong readers and learners
  •         Effective problem solvers
  •         Critical and analytical thinkers
  •         Proficient communicators
  •         Voracious and discerning consumers of information and
  •         Successful world citizens

This mission recognizes the essential role of the school library program in the educational process as the library media specialist, students and staff work together to achieve "Excellence for All."

We are implementing a Flexible schedule in the library.  ELA teachers are scheduled every two weeks in the library to check out books along with a lesson.  All teachers may schedule the library as a whole class for curriculum related activities or 15 minutes "Book Blast" if they have a significant number of students who need books on the open two weeks of each month.  See the library calendar below.

Library Hours

The library is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 -3:30 for student check-out.

Student Check Out Policy

As the need arises, students may come to the library individually with a pass during the following times:

  • 7:30 - 7:50 Morning Check Out (MCO)
  • 2:38 - 3:30 Afternoon Check Out (ACO)
  • Green sign on doors - open for check out (no scheduled classes)
  • Red sign on doors - closed no check out (a class or classes in the library)

Students check out two books for two weeks. After a seven day grace period, a five cent per day fine is assessed. Students are unable to check-out new books until late books or fines are cleared. Students that have lost or severely damaged books will be charged the cost of replacement. It is important that students return books in a timely manner so others can enjoy them as well.
